The Palestine Monetary Authority organizes a training course for journalists in Gaza entitled “Electronic Clearing and Check Data”

Today, at its headquarters in Gaza, the Palestine Monetary Authority (PMA), in cooperation with the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate, organized a training course for journalists working in the field of economic journalism in Gaza, entitled "Electronic Clearing and Check Data".

At the opening of the session, the Public Relations Department, in the name of Governor Dr. Feras Milhem, welcomed the participating journalists, emphasizing the keenness of the PMA to develop the capabilities of the media cadre and spread the banking culture in the community.

From the PMA, Mr. Nael Shaath, the clearing officer in Gaza, spoke in the session about electronic clearing in terms of definition, objectives, and the difference between it and automated clearing and the direct impact on check dealers. Ms. Ghada Abo Ewaily, coordinator of consensual settlements in the Department of Market Conduct about the check as a means of payment in terms of the general risks of using checks and the directions of the PMA related to limiting the use of checks and alternative tools for checks, the system of bounced checks and classifications. Dr. Saif Al-Deen Odeh, Head of Monetary Policy and Financial Markets Department in the Monetary Policy and Research Group, spoke about check data in terms of how to read check data from the website of the PMA and to compare statistical data.

The course included discussions and interpositions by participating journalists, and how to use data and information in writing a news item on the topics raised.

At the end of the session, certificates were handed over to the participating journalists, in the presence of a delegation from the Journalists Syndicate headed by Vice-Head of the syndicate Dr. Tahseen Al-Astal and thanking them for their interest and keenness to acquire more knowledge, especially in the economic field, which will reflect positively on their role in raising public awareness and consequently in enhancing stability and financial inclusion.

It is worth noting that the PMA organized a similar course a week ago in Ramallah, and previously organized workshops and specialized courses for journalists, in light of the memorandum of understanding signed with the Journalists Syndicate to develop economic media.
