The Palestine Monetary Authority and electronic payment services companies are organizing a campaign to introduce electronic wallets

Ramallah and Al-Bireh Governorate, 24/11/2021

Within the framework of the efforts made by the Palestine Monetary Authority (PMA), to enhance banking awareness and use of electronic payment services, the PMA, in cooperation with electronic payment services companies and some banks, organized a campaign on 23/11/2021, to introduce electronic wallets, hosted by the Palestinian-Indian Techno Park – Birzeit.

 

 

The campaign, which was a live broadcast through the social media channels. Included an introduction to these companies and the services they provide through the e-wallet, and questions and general discussion from the audience. Where an amount of twenty thousand shekels drawn, for 100 followers, funded by electronic payment service companies, at a rate of 200 shekels cash for each winner on their e-wallets. A number of influencers on social networks also participated in the live broadcast.

The Governor of the PMA, Dr. Feras Milhem, said that the launch of this event aims to spread culture and awareness of electronic payment services, especially the electronic wallet, which is in line with the strategies of the PMA to develop electronic payment methods and the national strategy for financial inclusion, which aims to keep pace with the rapid technological developments and support the transition to the use of technology in Palestine, especially financial and banking services and electronic payment, and reducing dependence on cash payments, which will benefit the national economy as a whole.

It is worth noting that in the Palestinian market, in addition to banks and specialized lending institutions, five electronic payment services companies are working under the control and supervision of the PMA.
