The Monetary Authority holds preparatory meetings to launch the 2020 Children and Youth Money Week

Ramallah
Palestine Monetary Authority held a series of preparatory meetings at the headquarters of Palestine Monetary Authority and Association of Banks in Palestine to launch the activities of the Children and Youth Money Week 2020, in the presence of representatives of Palestine Monetary Authority, representatives of banks, lending institutions, the Palestinian Deposit Insurance Corporation, the Ministry of Education, and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), and a number of volunteer students from schools.
This year's Children and Youth Money Week will kick off on March 15th at Hisham Palace in Jericho, and Gaza City, under the auspices of His Excellency the Governor of Palestine Monetary Authority, Mr. Azzam Shawwa, and His Excellency the Minister of Education, Dr. Marwan Awartani, in cooperation with the Association of Banks in Palestine, the Education Program of UNRWA, the Palestinian Network for Small and Microfinance (SHARAKAH), and the Palestinian Deposit Insurance Corporation.
The selection of Hisham Palace in Jericho to launch the Money Week event aims at promoting financial and banking awareness among school students and introduce them to an historic place in Palestine.
During the meeting, the mechanisms of action and coordination – to be applied during the launch of the Children and Youth Money Week events – between banks and lending institutions and student volunteers from schools were discussed. This year's Children and Youth Money Week events will include a virtual bank exhibition, during which school students will learn about banking services provided by banks and lending institutions, with the aim of enhancing students' awareness of the banking and financial culture. Educational banking brochures will be distributed among students, and film materials will be displayed that simplify the concepts related to banking services.
As part of the Children and Youth Money Week, bank branches and lending institutions devote one working hour each day during the Week to receive school students and their families to learn about banking services, and bank representatives will visit schools in different governorates to provide the necessary explanation to students, and answer their inquiries and provide them with the necessary leaflets to learn about the concepts and methods of the work of banks and how to deal with them.
Many introductory brochures and videos on banking services will also be posted on the Children and Youth Money Week's Facebook page and on the websites of Palestine Monetary Authority, banks and the Ministry of Education, with the aim of reaching the largest possible number of students.
The Children and Youth Money Week is an annual event held by Palestine Monetary Authority in cooperation with partners. Palestine Monetary Authority received two international awards issued by the Netherlands-based Child and Youth Finance International (CYFI) in 2013 and 2018 for the best financial and banking awareness event organized in the Middle East and North Africa region to promote financial awareness among children and young people, in recognition of the high level achieved by Palestine Monetary Authority by organizing the Children and Youth Money Week.
