The PMA Governor Participates in the Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank in Washington

The PMA Governor, H.E. Mr. Yahya Shunnar, is participating in the annual Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, taking place in Washington, D.C., from April 20 to 26. He is accompanied by a delegation from the PMA and the Financial Follow-Up Unit.

This year’s meetings address several key issues that reflect the ongoing changes and challenges facing the global economy, including trade wars and their impact on markets and economies, the independence of central banks, and strategies for addressing rising levels of global public debt.

As part of his visit, the Governor will hold a series of bilateral meetings with officials from the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, as well as with representatives from the United States and Europe. This is to discuss the economic repercussions of the ongoing Israeli aggression and war against the Palestinian people, and will address the key challenges facing Palestine in this context.

During his visit, the Governor will also take part in a number of high-level panel discussions and will meet with prominent figures from the Arab and international financial and banking sectors. These engagements aim to strengthen mutual cooperation and foster the exchange of expertise and perspectives on regional and global economic developments.

The participation of the PMA in these meetings reflects its commitment to enhancing its international presence and actively contributing to global financial dialogue. It also provides a platform to highlight developments in the Palestinian banking sector and to showcase the progress made in aligning with international standards and best practices in banking.
