Palestine Monetary Authority Obtains Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard Certificate of Compliance


Palestine Monetary Authority has obtained certificate of compliance with Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS). This is an international certificate relevant to applying data security standards of data security defined by the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council, which is specialized in the implementation of the highest security and protection standards of data of payment cards. PMA’s compliance with the standards relevant to data security of payment cards is the foundation for banks that operate in Palestine to obtain such compliance and base for launching new payment services that would enable people to pay using cards rather than banknotes.    

His Excellency Mr. Azzam Shawwa said that he was proud of obtaining the compliance certificate by PMA, which can be added to other PMA’s achievements in areas of electronic services and enhance the use of electronic payments and reduce use of banknotes. 

Mr. Shawwa also said that such achievement had been among the efforts of PMA to be up-to-date with modern global banking developments and risk management in line with international standards and increase confidence in the procedures taken by PMA to safeguard the banking sector. This is conducted through provision of the best means of ensuring the security and protection of banks’ clients’ data and information and to enhance the protection of the data of the cardholders.
