Governor of PMA Meets French Delegation Headed by Regional Economic Advisor to the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Ramallah,

At PMA headquarters in Ramallah, Governor of PMA Azzam Shawwa met today with the regional economic advisor to the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs Jacques de Lajugie and his accompanying delegation from the Consulate General of France in Jerusalem. 

Governor Shawwa briefed his guest about the efforts of the PMA to support the development of the banking system in Palestine and maintain its robustness as well as achieve financial stability through the implementation of international banking standards and keeping abreast with the latest developments in banking. The Governor also presented an overview of PMA future plans and its vision to become a full-fledged central bank in the near future, once the Central Bank of Palestine Law receives Presidential approval. 

Governor Shawwa praised the bilateral relations with France, pointing to the French government’s initiatives and developmental projects in Palestine which favorably impact the national economy. 

From his side, Mr. de Lajugie praised the outstanding progress achieved by the PMA and the Palestinian banking sector, noting his country’s readiness to strengthen bilateral cooperation in a manner that supports financial and economic development in Palestine, especially through the programs that France undertakes to support the various economic sectors.
