PMA and Al-Quds Open University in Gaza Organize Lecture on PMA and Supervisory Role in Achievement of Financial Stability

In cooperation with Al-Quds Open University in Gaza, the PMA organized a lecture entitled “PMA and its supervisory role in the achievement of financial stability. The lecture was attended by a number of students from the Department of Banking Sciences in the Faculty of Commerce.

The Director of Gaza Branch of the university, Dr Ziyad Al-Jirjawi, commended the PMA and the various training programmes and awareness-raising lectures it offers which target university students in order to promote banking literacy within this important segment of the society.

The regional supervisor of the Supervision and Inspection Department in the PMA- Gaza Branch, Mr Ayman Odeh, delivered a detailed presentation on the supervisory role of the PMA, in view of its key objectives geared towards achieving monetary and financial stability in Palestine.

The most prominent procedures and achievements of financial stability were elaborated. These include Palestinian banking system consolidation, reinforcement of its financial solvency and the development of systems and technical infrastructures. Such development is undertaken to ensure effective risk management and banking operation continuity, as well as the fulfilment of all requirements for a financial safety net, in view of the establishment of the Palestine Deposit Insurance Corporation PDIC.

At the end of the lecture, the student enquiries were answered.
