Palestine Monetary Authority’s Lecture on “Financial Inclusion” at Birzeit University

Ramallah – The Director of Market Conduct Department, at Palestine Monetary Authority, Mr. Ali Faroun, lectured on “Financial Inclusion” and the role it played in ensuring financial stability before Finance and Banking course students at the Department of Finance and Banking at the Faculty of Business and Economics of Birzeit University.

Diyama Abu Laban, lecturer, Department of Finance and Banking, said the lecture was to assist students to select research topics for graduation, to educate them on finance and banking, and to prepare them to join the labor market.

Mr. Faroun addressed in details financial inclusion and its importance, objectives, and role to ensure financial stability and economic growth. Mr. Faroun also addressed the role of central banks and supervisory entities in enhancing financial inclusion, the key aspects of strengthening financial inclusion – including financial infrastructure support – ways of applying financial inclusions, consumer protection, developing financial services and products that meet people’s needs, and the social impact of financial inclusion – the poor and those with limited income and women – and the importance of improving knowledge about financial aspects among the society.

Mr. Faroun also addressed the supervisory role of Palestine Monetary Authority over the banking system and the significance and features of the credit information systems, which PMA had recently launched in ensuring financial inclusion and stability.
