Governor of Palestine Monetary Authority Azzam Shawwa has affirmed the high levels of robustness and safety and the stable solvency position of the banking sector in Palestine. He emphasized the remarkable progress the sector has made in the banking business, demonstrated through expanding services and products as well as efficient risk management; most prominently with respect to operating risks. He added that this solid position of the banks was underpinned by the advanced infrastructure that was laid by the PMA to the most modern standards worldwide in order to control and mitigate all forms of risks associated with standard banking business including operational risks. 

Governor Shawwa underlined the need to adhere to accurate and professional reporting especially when addressing banking-related subjects and news, as maintaining financial and banking stability in Palestine is of uttermost importance. Commenting on reports released by some media outlets, Governor Shawwa assured the general public dealing with the banking sector and clients of the Jordan Ahli Bank in particular of the robust financial position of the bank, adding that, according to international best practices, the bank’s financial performance indicators reveal the soundness and stability of its business and show sustainable growth. 

Governor Shawwa added that comprehensive investigations in line with laws and regulations in force are underway into the operational incident relating to an individual bank transaction conducted by the aforementioned bank. He stressed the fact that the subject is receiving appropriate attention from all concerned parties.
