The Governor of Palestine Monetary Authority Welcomes the Governor of the Central Bank of Morocco in the First Visit of an Arab Central Bank Governor to Palestine


H.E. Mr. Azzam Shawwa, the Governor of the Palestine Monetary Authority, welcomed H.E. Mr. Abdul Latif Al Jawahiri, the Governor of the Central Bank of Morocco today at the headquarters of PMA in Ramallah in the first visit on an Arab central bank governor to Palestine. PMA organized a welcoming party for H.E. Mr. Abdul Latif Al Jawahiri with the participation of the Ambassador of Morocco to Palestine Mr. Mohammad Hamzawi and members of the Board of Directors of PMA and PMA’s directors as well as general and regional directors of the banks that operate in Palestine and a group of banking and economic officers. 

H.E. Mr. Azzam Shawwa welcomed the guest and stated that his visit to Palestine and PMA was great support from an Arab country and continuation of strong relations between the Palestinian and Moroccan leaderships and people. Banking cooperation between Morocco and Palestine is at its best and PMA and the Central Bank of Morocco have a memorandum of understanding and cooperation and at high level of consultation and exchange of expertise, according to Mr. Shawwa.   

H.E. the Governor of the Central Bank of Morocco expressed overwhelming happiness of visiting Palestine and praised the efforts of PMA and its high level of administrative and technical organization, which he had experienced in the welcoming party and tour of the headquarters of PMA, which he described as great and modern building. H.E. the Governor of the Central Bank of Morocco said that the briefing about the work of the departments of PMA and the achievements of PMA made it was one of the developed central banks.   

 

 

Dr. Riyad Abu Shehadah, the Deputy Governor of the PMA, and a number of PMA directors accompanied H.E. the Governor of the Central Bank of Morocco and the Ambassador of Morocco to Palestine Mr. Mohammad Hamzawi in a visit to Jerusalem where they were welcomed by Mr. Adnan Al Husayni, the Governor of Jerusalem and Sheikh Omar Alkiswani, Director of Al Aqsa Mosque, and Kamal Obeidat, the Head of the Chamber of Commerce in Jerusalem, and a number of officers from the Islamic Awqaf Department of Jerusalem. The visit included praying at Al Aqsa Mosque, visiting what was remained of the Moroccan Quarter, viewing the Western Wall, a tour of the Old City, the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, and Damascus Gate.
