The Governor of Palestine Monetary Authority Meets with the Minister of Women’s Affairs

June 6, 2021 - The Governor of Palestine Monetary Authority, Dr. Feras Milhem, met today in Ramallah with the Minister of Women’s Affairs Mrs. Amal Hamad, and Mrs. Muna Al-Khalili, Secretary-General of the General Union of Palestinian Women, in the presence of the Deputy Governor of Palestine Monetary Authority, Mr. Mohammad Manasrah, and the Director of Public Relations, Mrs. Irene Saadeh.

The meeting discussed ways to empower Palestinian women economically and the financial and technical support mechanisms available to women entrepreneurs in the face of the difficult circumstances that the Palestinian economy is going through following the current health crisis.

Dr. Milhem pointed out that Palestine Monetary Authority had, through Sustainability Fund program, allocated a portfolio of $10 million to finance microbusinesses entrepreneurs at no cost, which included the development of women-owned enterprises, the creation of outlets for them, and the development of gender-sensitive products and projects, calling on women entrepreneurs to benefit from this Fund and its programs.

Mrs. Amal Hamad praised the constant efforts of Palestine Monetary Authority in supporting and empowering women economically and in provision of banking services, stressing the need to coordinate efforts between the two sides to hold joint activities to educate women, especially women entrepreneurs, on how to benefit from the Sustainability Fund and various banking services, especially electronic banking services.
