The Governor of Palestine Monetary Authority Holds Important Meetings with American Officials and Participates in the Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank

Washington D.C. – His Excellency Mr. Azzam Shawwa, Governor of Palestine Monetary Authority, and accompanying delegation conduct important meetings with American officials and congressmen in Washington D.C. to brief them about the safety and soundness of the Palestinian banking system. Mr. Shawwa joins today the Spring Meetings 2019 of the World Bank Group and International Monetary Fund. The meetings are held from April 11 - 15, 2019 in Washington, D.C. 

Mr. Shawwa and the accompanying delegation will also conduct meetings and bilateral talks and attend a number of roundtable discussions and meet with Arab and international banking and financial officials.

The topics that the Palestinian delegation is going to propose and discuss may include the developments in the Palestinian banking sector and its role in providing incentives to further economic and social development and compliance of the banks that operate in Palestine with the international standards for anti-money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism, the relationship with a number of central banks, and the steps taken by Palestine Monetary Authority in the process of officially becoming a central bank of Palestine.

Palestine Monetary Authority joins the Spring Meetings and annual meetings of the World Bank Group and International Monetary Fund in order to present the Palestinian banking sector, boost bilateral relations, and brief international organizations and decision-makers about the efforts of the State of Palestine to implement the best international practices and standards in banking functions.
