PMA Issues a Series of Economic and Financial Reports During 2012

Ramallah, 20/1/2013. The Research and Monetary Policy Department of the PMA has issued a series of reports and bulletins during 2012.

Those annual, semi-annual and quarterly publications came as a part of the PMA's continuous efforts to develop its communication channels with the public. By publishing these reports, the PMA aims at providing the latest and most accurate information for decision takers, policy makers, and researchers, which prepared by a group of specialists in the fields of economics and finance. These reports provide the appropriate comprehensive analytical framework in formulating and implementing monetary policy. They also accentuate PMA’s transparency and creditability, and assist the PMA in meeting its duties of maintaining financial and monetary stability and enhancing its role as an economic and financial advisor for the Palestinian government.

The Annual Report monitors local and global economic and financial developments, while the Financial Stability Report monitors local and external risks on the financial and banking sectors. The semiannual Public Debt Sustainability Report analyses the Palestinian government's ability of further borrowing and its available sources, in addition to reviewing recent developments on key public debt indicators. The semiannual Public Finance Sustainability Report highlights the key variables that are necessary to achieving the public finance sustainability, and thereby, achieving Palestinian economic, social and development goals without undermining the government's capability to spend.

The quarterly Inflation Report monitors and analyzes price developments, in addition to providing short-term inflation forecasts. Moreover, the quarterly Economic Development Report reviews the main economic developments such as growth, prices, unemployment, in addition to financial and banking developments locally and globally. The quarterly Global Markets Report reviews regional and international financial markets developments, including interest rates, exchange rates, and food and oil prices.

Several bulletins have been issued in 2012 such as Monetary Survey and Monthly Statistical Bulletins, with the latter, reviewing recent developments on key economic, financial, and monetary indicators in Palestine.
