PMA holds a Banking Awareness Workshop in University of Palestine-Gaza

In cooperation with the Faculty of Business and Finance Administration in the University of Palestine in Gaza, the PMA organized a workshop on banking awareness of the Palestinian financial sector. The workshop came as part of PMA’s plan to spread financial and banking awareness amongst university students and other segments of society.

Dr. Salem Darwish, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Finance Administration, welcomed PMA delegation, asserting the significance of similar meetings with PMA offering valuable information regarding the nature of operation of the PMA and the financial and banking sector in Palestine. In turn, Mr. Hussein Zaggut, Supervisor of Public Services at PMA, gave a detailed presentation on the tasks and goals of PMA, its legislative environment, in particular the Law on Palestinian Monetary Authority and the Banking Law. The presentation also covered the supervisory and regulatory framework through which PMA operates and the various sectors that fall under such supervision and regulation. Mr. Zaggut also highlighted the role of the Palestinian Deposit Insurance Corporation which recently had its branch opened in Gaza, addressing the nature of its work offering insurance on customer deposits.

During the workshop, the participants received educational and informative material. They exchanged views during in an open discussion where they put forward their questions and queries and received relevant answers and clarifications.
