PMA Governor Meets Lord Mayor of the City of London
His Excellency Mr. Azzam Shawwa, the Governor of the Palestine Monetary Authority, met today with Charles Bowman, Lord Mayor of the City of London, and the delegation accompanying the Lord Mayor, at the PMA headquarters in Ramallah. Philip Hall, Britain's Consul General to Jerusalem, Mr. Joseph Nesnas, the Chairman of the Board of the Association of Banks in Palestine, Mr. Ali Far’oun, the Director of the Market Conduct Department at PMS, Mr. Mohammad Atallah, Director of Research and Monetary Policy Department at PMA and Mrs. Irene Saadeh, Director of Public Relations and Communication Department at PMA joined the meeting between the Governor and the Lord Mayor.
H.E. Mr. Azzam Shawwa briefed the Lord Mayor about the recent achievements of PMA in legislation, regulation, and supervision to ensure stability, independence, and safety of the Palestinian banking system as well as the efforts to keep pace with international banking developments. Mr. Shawwa affirmed the strength of the bilateral relations between Palestine and the United Kingdom and praised the support Britain delivered in all areas, especially the support for the Palestinian economy. Mr. Shawwa confirmed the necessity of enhancing the bilateral relations between the two parties and exchange of banking expertise and experiments within the framework of developing Palestinian banking relations with different countries.

The Lord Mayor praised the ongoing development and stability of the Palestinian banking sector and the role PMA played to achieve this. The Lord Mayor also stated that Britain was ready to expand ongoing mutual cooperation in all areas including finance and banking.
Mr. Mohammad Atallah briefed the meeting on the indicators of the Palestinian banking and economic operations including recent developments. The Governor and the Lord Mayor then toured the new PMA headquarters.
