PMA Governor Meets Chief of the U.S. Office of Palestinian Affairs

Today in Ramallah, His Excellency Mr. Yahya Shunnar, Governor of the Palestinian Monetary Authority (PMA), met with Mr. Hans Wechsel, Chief of the U.S. Office of Palestinian Affairs, accompanied by his delegation, which included Mr. Elias Khiyo, Economic Officer, and Mr. John Service, Economic Advisor. In addition, Mr. Mohammad Manasrah, Deputy Governor of the PMA, and Dr. Feras Murrar, Director of the Palestinian Financial Follow-Up Unit attended the meeting.

During the meeting, His Excellency welcomed Mr. Wechsel and his delegation, briefing them on the latest developments in the Palestinian banking sector. He highlighted the PMA's efforts to maintain its stability, independence, resilience, and sound operations in line with global regulatory and banking best practices and standards. The Governor also outlined the PMA's priorities and strategic objectives for the coming years.

Mr. Wechsel congratulated His Excellency Mr. Yahya Shunnar on his appointment as Governor of the PMA, wishing him success in his role. He emphasized the importance of strengthening mutual cooperation between the two parties.

The two parties discussed during the meeting the importance of continued U.S. efforts to support the work of the PMA and explored ways to enhance this support through joint collaboration with the U.S. Department of the Treasury, contributing to the development of the Palestinian banking sector and economy.
