PMA Concludes Second Training Programme for Students of Al-Azhar University, Islamic University of Gaza and the University College of Applied Sciences Gaza

On Sunday morning, the 16th November, the PMA concluded second training programme for students of Al-Azhar University, the Islamic University of Gaza and the University College of Applied Sciences Gaza, in which 28 students from the schools of accounting, financial and administrative sciences and business management took part.

The students received both theoretical and practical training on the work of the PMA as a central bank of Palestine. Delivering the training were the heads of the PMA departments and divisions.

The Governor of the PMA, Dr Jihad Al Wazir, said that the PMA feels proud to have joined forces with the Palestinian universities in building student awareness, promoting student banking literacy and facilitating the access of students to training opportunities, which should reflect positively on their promising future. Dr Al Wazir pointed to the fact that the programme comes within the framework of mutual cooperation between the PMA and the Palestinian universities, pursuant to the memoranda of understanding signed in March of this year by the Governor of the PMA, Dr Jihad Al-Wazir, and the presidents of three universities in the Gaza Strip. The agreement promotes mutual cooperation and work in scientific research in the fields of economics, business administration, library-keeping and exchanges of library materials obtained from different bibliographic sources of knowledge such as publications, books and journals. It also facilitates the access to PMA training for the graduates of the schools of economics and business administration.

The trainee students expressed their gratitude to the PMA for the pioneering role it plays in the area of disseminating banking and financial knowledge and for the attention it dedicates to graduate students, which reflects the PMA perspective regarding the significance of the role of university students in shapingthe future of Palestine.

It is worth mentioning that the programme was executed by a PMA ad-hoc committee of three members: Ayman Al-Minawi, Administrative Supervisor of the PMA Gaza Office, Imad Al-A’raj, Advisor to the Governor and Dr Saifuddin Odeh, Head of Monetary Policy and Financial Markets Division at the Research and Monetary Policies Department.
