PMA Concludes First Training Program for Al-Azhar and Islamic University Students in Gaza
The Palestine Monetary Authority (PMA) has concluded its first training program for students from Al-Azhar University and the Islamic University in Gaza. The program lasted for two weeks and more than 20 male and female students from accounting, finance and administration, and business administration programs participated. During the training, participants were introduced to the PMA, its work, and its main responsibilities. They also received practical training on the various activities of PMA departments.
This training program was part of joint cooperation between the PMA and Palestinian universities based on a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the Governor of the PMA, Dr, Jihad Khalil Al-Wazir, and three university presidents in the Gaza Strip last March. This MoU stipulated enhanced cooperation and joint work on academic research in economics and business administration, in addition to support for libraries and the exchange of published materials. It provides opportunities for economics and business faculty graduates to receive training in the PMA. Other fields may also be agreed upon by the parties based on need.
The training took place in the PMA, supervised by a committee consisting of Mr. Ayman Minawi, the PMA Office Administrative Supervisor for Gaza; Mr. Imad Al-Araj, advisor to the PMA Governor; and Dr. Seif Addin Odeh, the head of the Monetary Policies and Money Market Division. In addition, Dr. Samir Abu-Mdalaleh, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Science in Al-Azhar University, and Dr. Salem Halas, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce in the Islamic University, visited the PMA during the training program. They have followed the progress of the training and thoroughly reviewed the content of the program provided to participants.
