/ Thursday, February 28, 2019 / Categories: PMA, Meetings Palestine Monetary Authority to Launch the Children and Youth Money Week 2019 on March 17; Organizes Preparatory Meeting to Address Preparations of the Launch February 28, 2019 Palestine Monetary Authority held today in Nablus and Gaza preparatory meetings for launching the activities of the Children and Youth Money Week 2019. Representatives of Palestine Monetary Authority, representatives of banks and lending institutions, Palestine Deposit Insurance Corporation, Ministry of Education and Higher Education, the UNRWA, and a number of volunteering students attended the meeting. The activities of the Children and Youth Money Week 2019 will be launched on March 17, 2019 under the auspices of His Excellency Mr. Azzam Shawwa, the Governor of Palestine Monetary Authority and His Excellency Dr. Sabri Saidam, the Minister of Education and Higher Education. The launching will be in cooperation with the Association of Banks in Palestine, the Education Program of the UNRWA, and the Palestinian Network for Small and Microfinance (Sharakeh). The Children and Youth Money Week 2019 will be launched at Qal’a Hall in Nablus and Lighthouse Restaurant in Gaza. The activities of the Children and Youth Money Week 2019 are part of the plan of Palestine Monetary Authority to enhance financial and banking awareness in the Palestinian society especially among children, youth, and school students. The meeting addressed work and coordination mechanisms among bank and lending institutions officers and volunteering school students during the launching of the Children and Youth Money Week 2019. The activities of the Children and Youth Money Week 2019 will include virtual banks in Nablus and Gaza, which will be visited by school students from different parts of the country, to be introduced to banking services delivered by banks and lending institutions and the significance of such services. The purpose is to enhance awareness among students about banking and financial culture. The activities also include disseminating information bulletins about banking and showing videos that streamline banking services terminology. Bank branches will assign one office hour every day throughout the Children and Youth Money Week 2019 to welcome school students and their parents to introduce them to banking services. Additionally, bank officers visit schools across the country to lecture on banking services and to answer students’ inquiries and to give students leaflets about the terminology and ways banks operates and how to deal with banks. These will be among the activities of the Children and Youth Money Week 2019. Bulletins and videos about banking services will be posted on the Facebook page of the Children and Youth Money Week 2019, and the websites of Palestine Monetary Authority and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education. The purpose of this is to reach as many students as possible. Palestine Monetary Authority, in cooperation with partners, organizes the Children and Youth Money Week annually. Palestine Monetary Authority was awarded the CYFI Country Award 2018 by the Child and Youth Finance International (CYFI) in the Netherlands for the best financial and banking awareness raising activity among the youth and children to be organized in the region of the Middle East and North Africa. The award was in recognition of Palestine Monetary Authority’s high achievement in organizing the Children and Youth Money Week in 2018 in Palestine. Palestine Monetary Authority was awarded the same award in 2013 also for distinctive organization of the Children and Youth Money Week.
