Palestine Monetary Authority to Launch the Children and Youth Money Week 2018 on March 11; Organizes Meeting to Address Final Preparations of the Launch

Ramallah - Palestine Monetary Authority held today in Ramallah and Gaza meetings for all parties taking part in the activities of the Children and Youth Money Week 2018. Heads of students’ activities sections at the departments of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and the UNRWA; representatives of the Association of Banks in Palestine and Palestinian Network for Small and Microfinance (Sharakeh), lending institutions, and the Palestine Deposit Insurance Corporation attended the meetings.  

The meetings addressed the final preparations for the Children and Youth Money Week 2018, which will be launched on March 11 at the Bethlehem Convention Palace and Lighthouse Restaurant in Gaza. 

The activities of the Children and Youth Money Week 2018 include virtual bank to introduce children and youth to banking services and products and visits by bank and lending institutions employees to schools to educate students about banking services and visits by school students and parents to banks and lending institutions to be introduced to services and banking products delivered by banks. The activities also include disseminating information bulletins about banking.

The Director of Market Conduct Department at PMA Mr. Ali Far’oun said that PMA, in association with partners, had for the sixth year in a row delivered through the Children and Youth Money Week new ideas to streamline banking concepts and operations to promote knowledge of banking among the children and the youth. Mr. Far’oun praised the constructive and effective efforts of all partners to the success of the event. 

The Director of Cultural and Scientific Activity Department at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education Mr. Hamid Abu Makho said it was necessary that partners worked together to overcome the obstacles that faced the event in the past. The event is very important to promoting knowledge and culture of banking among students and their educational future, according to Mr. Abu Makho.   

PMA organizes the Children and Youth Money Week annually. The organization of this event usually coincides with the activities of the Global Money Week to enhance the financial and banking culture in the society especially among children and youth and prepares them to deal with financial and banking institutions in the future.
