Palestine Monetary Authority Successfully Transfers Coins into Gaza Strip

Palestine Monetary Authority successfully transferred coins of the Israeli Shekel to banks' branches working in Gaza Strip by the beginning of the Holy Month of Ramadan. This achievement took place for the first time since three years due to the Israeli restricting procedures that hindered transferring the coins before.

Dr. Jihad Al Wazir, Governor of PMA, considered the success in transferring the coins to Gaza Strip a solution for the liquidity problem which has caused anguish for all segments of the Gaza society since the beginning of the current year. He added that the transferred coins will cover the needs of the market especially during the Holy Month of Ramadan.

Dr. Al Wazir called on the traders and all related parties in Gaza Strip to not withhold coins, in order to not exacerbate the problem, and cause a crisis that adversely affect trade activity.
