Maayah and Shawwa Meet with Representatives of the Palestinian Private Tourism Sector and Discuss the Mechanism for supporting it
Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Mrs. Rula Maayah and the Governor of Palestine Monetary Authority Mr. Azzam Shawwa met with representatives of the Palestinian Private Tourism Sector Associations to discuss the repercussions of the current health crisis caused by the outbreak of the Coronavirus on the tourism sector as one of the sectors most affected by this crisis. The meeting took place at the headquarters of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities in Bethlehem.
The meeting dealt with topics related to the relationship between tourism establishments and the banking sector including the postponement of payment of loans and the mechanism of dealing with the tourism establishments regarding returned cheques due to insufficient balance, in addition to discussing how to benefit from the “Sustainability” Program launched by Palestine Monetary Authority recently to help the sectors affected by the health crisis to help them continue their work. It was announced to start receiving applications in all banks with priority to the tourism sector.
Minister Maayah and Governor Shawwa also signed a contract of loaning historical coins for display at the Palestinian Monetary Museum, which is being set up by Palestine Monetary Authority at its headquarters in Ramallah and Al-Bireh Governorate.
Maayah welcomed Mr. Azzam Shawwa, stressing the importance of the museum in Palestine, which will reflect Palestinian economic history through the ages, including the history of monetary circulation and its economic, cultural, social, political and commercial implications.
