The recent efforts made by the Monetary Authority with the concerned authorities allowed the introduction of 50 million Shekels into Gaza Strip this Monday, July 19th , 2010. Approximately 30 million Shekels of accumulated damaged banknotes in Gaza Strip has also been replaced.

This comes as a result of the efforts made by the Palestine Monetary Authority to secure the liquidity needed for bank branches operating in Gaza Strip and to facilitate the payment of salaries to citizens. The PMA confirmed that the amount of cash shipped to Gaza will contain small denominations of banknotes in addition to coins to meet the needs of the holy month of Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr.
