Governor of PMA Visits Tubas Governorate, Municipality and Chamber of Commerce and Meets with Money Changers
Governor of PMA H.E. Azzam Shawwa paid a visit to the Governorate of Tubas where he was received by Governor of Tubas and the Northern Valleys, Major General Rabih Al Khandakji. Attending the meeting were the deputy governor, general managers of bank branches operating in the governorate, representatives of the Chamber of Commerce, governorate directors from the Ministries of National Economy and Finance and the governorate directors general.
Governor Al Khandakji commended the PMA for the efforts it exerts to regulate operation of banks and its endeavors, in collaboration with partner public institutions, to develop the economy in general. He valued highly the commitment of the banks to corporate social responsibility (CSR), pointing out that allocating provisions towards CSR programs to bank branches in a governorate contributes to the development of relevant activities and events in that governorate.
Governor Al Khandakji reviewed the state of affairs in the Governorate of Tubas and the efforts made to bring about sectoral development, in particular the agricultural sector for which Tubas is reputed. He addressed the Israeli-committed offences against the governorate which hinder real development. In turn, H.E. Governor of PMA pointed out that the visit to Tubas is conducted on the ground of boosting communication with all governorates of Palestine in order to become familiar with the needs of the Palestinian society, across all its strata, in relation to the banking sector and money exchange firms. Additionally, the visit aimed at meeting businessmen and representatives of other economic sectors of the governorate.
Governor Shawwa then visited the Municipality of Tubas where he met with Mayor Oqab Daraghmeh. The two parties discussed the means to improve economic life and develop the various economic sectors in Tubas. Discussions also alluded to the importance of public-private partnership in serving the local community and fostering development; especially under the current political situation. Mayor Daraghmeh delivered a detailed presentation on the economic and commercial situation in Tubas, pointing out that communication and interaction with the PMA becoming aware of the various financial and economic issues through the competent institutions helps develop and improve conditions for citizens.
H.E. the Governor was briefed on the efforts of the Tubas District Electricity Company (TDECO) to generate green solar energy. In turn, Governor Shawwa introduced the Mayor to the preparations for the Annual Banking Conference on renewable and environmentally friendly energy and green loans and emphasized the importance of presenting the Tubas experience at the conference.
H.E. the Governor paid a visit to the Tubas Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, where he met with Deputy Chairman Mr. Mohammad Fakhri Abdulrazeq and its General Manager Mr. Maan Sawaftah. Attending the meeting were money exchange firms operating in the governorate, bank branch managers and prominent merchants and investors. The meeting discussed means of cooperation with the PMA so as to better serve and support merchants and attract and encourage investments.
During the meeting, H.E. the Governor of PMA reviewed the most important banking and financial developments, praising the steadfastness of the governorate of Tubas in the face of crises and hardships. Governor Shawwa pointed out that for the PMA, assigned with the responsibility to achieve monetary stability and contribute to harnessing financial stability, the visit was important because it aimed at exploring economic and financial conditions. The meeting touched upon the difficulties and impediments facing money exchange firms and prospects of cooperation with the PMA. H.E.
