Governor of PMA: First Main Office of Association for Banks in Palestine Opening Soon in Gaza
H.E. Governor of the PMA, Mr. Azzam Shawwa, announced that, following a deliberative meeting with the Association of Banks in Palestine (ABP) held at PMA headquarters, it has recently been agreed to open the first ABP main office in Gaza. With support from the PMA, the decision was driven by ABP’s view that there the need exists to activate the role of the Association to build and enhance the capabilities of banking sector employees to stay up-to-date with the most recent developments in banking.
H.E. Governor Shawwa added that Mr. Mohammad Barghouti, Chairman of the Board of Directors, will kindly be following up the procedures to open the main office and appoint a resident director of ABP Gaza.
Mr. Shawwa added that he was confident that the Gaza office, in coordination with the PMA, will contribute to the development of the banking industry through conducting studies, publishing brochures, organizing seminars and workshops and promoting social responsibility; hence develop Palestine’s economy despite political and economic hardships.
