Governor of Palestine Monetary Authority Meets Minister of General Authority of Civil Affairs

Ramallah – January 6, 2019 – His Excellency Mr. Azzam Shawwa, the Governor of Palestine Monetary Authority met at his office in Ramallah with His Excellency Mr. Hussein Al-Sheikh, the Minister of General Authority of Civil Affairs, and Mr. Ayman Qandeel, the Deputy Minister of General Authority of Civil Affairs, and delegates from the General Authority of Civil Affairs. The Deputy Governor of Palestine Monetary Authority Dr. Riyad Abu Shehadah, Mr. Wael Lafi, the Financial Follow-Up Unit Director, Mr. Issa Kassis, Governor Advisor for Strategic Planning and International Relations, and a number of directors of Palestine Monetary Authority participated in the workshop.
Mr. Shawwa welcomed Mr. Al-Sheikh and the delegates and briefed them about Palestine Monetary Authority’s work to develop the banking sector and safeguard its strength and soundness, and to develop the banking systems and enhance financial stability to keep abreast of recent banking developments and strengthening relations at Arab and international levels.
Mr. Shawwa thanked Mr. Al-Sheikh for his work and that of the employees of the General Authority of Civil Affairs and continuous cooperation to facilitate procedures relevant to banking functions.
Mr. Shawwa and Mr. Al-Sheikh addressed the developments in the Palestinian banking sector and relations with correspondent Israeli banks and the obstacles and challenges banks face in this regard.
Mr. Al-Sheikh commended the role of Palestine Monetary Authority in safeguarding financial stability and developing the banking sector and enhancing the financial and economic opportunities and developing them to improve Palestinian economy.
