Ramallah, 23-9-2012 – Governor of the Palestine Monetary Authority Dr. Jihad Al-Wazir visited the public relations hall of the Consumer Relations and Market Conduct Department, where he reviewed the workflow and the mechanism that follows up and resolves customer problems with the banking system, money exchange companies, and specialized lending institutions. Dr. Al-Wazir said that the PMA has established a public relations hall in Ramallah, and another one in Gaza; both halls are equipped with a special electronic system to receive, process and follow up complaints.
Dr. Al-Wazir added that more than 1800 people have been received during the first eight months of this year, and they were provided with services such as credit reports, reports of bounced cheques, objections to data contained in these reports, information about accounts of deceased relatives, applying for exceptional reconciliations, answer public inquiries, and provide advice and guidance. These halls are effectively raising awareness and providing financial and banking education through educational material regarding banking transactions and topics, types of banking products and services provided by banks and visual presentation on objectives, tasks and responsibilities of the PMA. All of the above comes as part of receiving and treating public complaints, as well as providing services in accordance with proper banking standards and relevant best international practices.
