Launch of the 2025 Banking Week for Children and Youth to Enhance Banking and Financial Literacy

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education, the Palestinian Monetary Authority (PMA), and the Association of Banks in Palestine have launched the 2025 Banking Week for Children and Youth. This initiative is part of joint efforts aimed at enhancing financial and banking awareness among school students and familiarizing them with financial and banking services. The launch event took place at the Jerusalem Girls' Secondary School in Kfar Aqab, with the participation of representatives from all partners organizations.

This year's Banking Week targets around 300 thousand students from various schools and includes a series of awareness activities. These include field visits organized by banks to schools, providing information about banking services, and an interactive competition through the " Masrifi " app. The app features games and questions about banking services, allowing participating students to compete for several prizes.

In this context, Mr. Iyad Zaitawi, Director of the Financial Stability Department at the PMA, emphasized that Banking Week has become an integral part of the educational process. He pointed out its crucial role in developing financial awareness among students and enabling them to engage with the banking sector in the future with knowledge and confidence.

For his part, Mr. Sadeq Al-Khudur, Assistant Undersecretary for Student Affairs at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, explained that the partnership between the Ministry, the PMA, and the Association of Banks in Palestine reflects the commitment of national institutions to raise financial literacy among students. This will help them make sound financial decisions and build a stable economic future.

In turn, Mr. Bashar Yaseen, General Director of the Association of Banks in Palestine, emphasized that enhancing financial literacy has become a fundamental necessity to support sustainable economic growth and strengthen financial stability in society. He pointed out that the " Masrifi" app has been designed in an innovative and engaging way that suits school students, providing them with banking information in a simple and accessible manner that aligns with the needs of younger generations.

It is worth noting that Banking Week is an annual event aimed at spreading banking and financial literacy among students, equipping them with the skills to wisely manage their money and make sound financial decisions. This positively impacts their economic future and contributes to enhancing financial stability at the community level.
