PMA Hosts Representatives of Non-Governmental Organizations and Human Rights Institutions in Gaza
Within the frame of spreading banking education more widely, the PMA hosted a number of representatives of non-governmental organizations and human rights institutions as part of its strategy to promote financial inclusion. This strategy aims at providing banking and financial services and products to all segments of society, and acquainting them with these services and products.
Mr Ayman Al-Minawi, PMA Office Administrative Supervisor for Gaza, welcomed the guests. He stressed the importance of such meetings in promoting banking knowledge, pointing as well to the role of non-governmental organizations and human rights institutions in serving society and defending the rights of citizens.
The Customer Service Supervisor in Gaza, Mr Hussain Zaqout, gave a presentation on the goals and duties of the PMA and its future vision, the banking services and products offered by the Palestinian banking system and the role of the PMA in maintaining financial stability and developing the banking industry in Palestine. Mr Zaqout reviewed PMA achievements as well as the achievements of the Consumers’ Relations Department and the relevant regulations in effect. Within the same context, Ms Mervat Sharab delivered a brief on the key services offered by the Public Relations Hall, including the issuance of credit reports and bounced check reports and the receipt of enquiries on deceased person accounts and the receipt of complaints from the public. She also highlighted the mechanism of complaint handling.
In turn, Mr Tawfiq Abu Shomer, member of Administrative Board of the Red Crescent Society, said that the PMA is a first-rate and outstanding institution that enjoys an excellent basic structure, which should be reinforced and developed in preparation for future establishment of the State of Palestine.
At the end of the meeting, the guests’ enquiries were answered. The guests expressed their appreciation for the PMA efforts to organize the meeting, hoping similar meetings will be held in the future.
