“There Will be no Cuts from Public Sector Employees’ Salaries to Pay June 2020 Installments,” States the Governor of Palestine Monetary Authority

The Governor of Palestine Monetary Authority instructed banks today to pay the salaries transferred by the Ministry of Finance to government employees in full without any deductions to pay the installment due for June 2020 since the aforementioned payments had been postponed under Instructions 4/2020 of March 15, 2020, which provided for the postponement of the payment of installments for March, April, May, and June 2020 to mitigate the effects of the health crisis caused by COVID-19.

The Governor expressed hope that the crisis of the salaries of the public sector employees would soon end. He stressed that Palestine Monetary Authority and banks would not hesitate to provide the necessary funding for employees and government to contribute to alleviating the effects of the crisis.

Instructions 4/2020 allow extension of working hours during the period of payment of social benefits expected to begin from next Tuesday morning. The Instructions also allow banks to open their doors to the public on Thursday in accordance with the requirements of work in order to facilitate employees and beneficiaries of social benefits to obtain their payments.

The Governor appealed to the public to abide by the rules of social distancing during the coming period, and to abide by the health procedures and protocol issued by the Ministry of Health, thereby contributing to alleviating the transmission of the pandemic and reducing its spread.
