PMA Receives Representatives of the Fishermen’s Association in Gaza

Wednesday, 12/8/2015

The PMA hosted a number of representatives and members of Al-Tawfiq Fishermen’s Cooperative Association in Gaza, as part of activities consistent with its financial inclusion strategy. The strategy aims at introducing banking and financial services and products and making them available to all segments of the society.

Mr Ayman Al-Minawi, the PMA Office Administrative Supervisor for Gaza, welcomed the guests pointing out that such meetings organized by the PMA are intended to build public awareness and disseminate banking literacy. Mr Al-Minawi touched on significant contribution of fishermen, as a group, to the local economy of the Gaza Strip.

The Customer Service Supervisor in Gaza, Mr Hussain Zaqout, gave a presentation on the key goals and duties of the PMA and the Consumers’ Relations Department, part of the Financial Stability Department. He reviewed the various systems and services offered by the Consumer Reception Hall. Afterwards, an introductory film was shown and Mr Zaqout took questions and enquiries from the guests.

At the end of the meeting, Project Coordinator at the Association, Mr Ahmad Al’Ajaleh, thanked the PMA and pointed out that the Association enjoys the membership of no less than 3700 fishermen, who need to be properly introduced to banking knowledge, hoping that similar meeting will be held in the future.
