Palestine Monetary Authority Launches an Awareness Campaign of E-Payment Services Most Notably the E-wallet via Smart Devices

July 19, 2020 - Palestine Monetary Authority has launched a campaign to introduce electronic payment services via smart devices, to encourage citizens to use them, and to introduce them to their features, mechanisms and areas of use, through its website www.pma.ps and through its social media pages and local radio stations.

This comes after Palestine Monetary Authority recently licensed a number of electronic payment services companies that launched their services and all citizens are able for the first time in Palestine to use electronic payment services and complete their financial transactions via mobile phones and without using cash at any time and place.

Electronic payment services include many tools, most notably the E-wallet, which is loaded onto smart devices and enables its participants to complete their financial transactions from buying and selling within specified ceilings, where the E-wallet allows its subscribers to deposit and withdraw money at any time and transfer money to anyone in Palestine, shopping and paying for purchases, and paying bills, through authorized agents of these companies spread through all governorates, cities and villages of the country.

His Excellency the Governor of Palestine Monetary Authority Mr. Azzam Shawwa said the launch of the campaign came within the framework of introducing citizens to electronic payment services, allowing many groups of society, such as entrepreneurs, owners of SMEs, and professionals to have access to financial services and to complete sales and purchases through smart devices without the need to deal with cash and require a bank account, and from anywhere without the need to move.

Mr. Shawwa pointed out the importance of switching to electronic payment methods and financial technology as the most effective solutions in the face of political and financial obstacles, or health such as those that are passing these days, and requires reducing the dealing of the currency and the tendency to promote the use of electronic means to carry out financial transactions.

E-payment services companies are monitored and supervised by Palestine Monetary Authority to ensure the highest level of security, transparency and effectiveness, through specialized teams working to monitor the application of the best international standards related to electronic payment services.
