Palestine Monetary Authority Holds Awareness Meeting on Electronic Financial Services

Palestine Monetary Authority held a meeting at its headquarters in Ramallah with social media influencers from different regions and areas of work for their important role in contributing to the dissemination of financial awareness and culture among different groups of society with the aim of introducing them to the tasks and objectives of Palestine Monetary Authority in general and electronic financial services in particular.

The Executive Director of the Financial Stability Group, Mr. Iyad Zeitawi, provided an overview of Palestine Monetary Authority, including its functions and the systems it managed, its vision and objectives in promoting financial inclusion by providing innovative financial services that meet the needs of all segments of society, especially those who did not receive banking services with reasonable quality and cost, and enhance citizens' levels of financial awareness and knowledge. Mr. Zeitawi also provided an insight about the recently launched e-payment services awareness campaign, which aimed to introduce citizens to e-payment services and their importance with a focus on e-wallet service, by producing and publishing several videos and awareness materials in simple language and interesting style, with the support of the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ).

Mrs. Rana al-Hanbali of GIZ provided a glimpse of the social media influencers’ role in supporting the Palestinian economy, particularly the importance of spreading knowledge on financial technology in order to create jobs and contribute to economic growth, where awareness materials, especially videos, would be produced, and training workshops would be held so that they can publish content in a simplified and understandable way to their followers.

Participants interacted with the meeting by asking questions, making inquiries and suggestions, and expressed their desire to cooperate in spreading culture and financial awareness, reflecting positively on citizens.
