High Level Eurosystem Seminar with Mediterranean Countries’ Central Banks
H.E. Dr. Jihad Al Wazir will be participating in The 7th High level Eurosystem seminar with Mediterranean countries’ Central Banks, which will bring together Central Banks from the Eurosystem and from the Southern and Eastern shores of the Mediterranean. The seminar is being jointly organized by the Central Bank of Morocco and the European Central Bank (ECB) and will be held on the 12th of July in Casablanca, Morocco.
The Seminar will provide an exchange of views on issues of common interest from a central bank perspective focusing on three issues, the Economic and Financial developments in Mediterranean countries and the Euro area, the monetary policy implementation and the Macro-prudential policies and financial stability. Dr. Alwazir will chair the third session on “Macro-prudential policies and financial stability – a view from the EU and from Mediterranean Countries”. The lead speakers of this session will be Mario Draghi, the president of the European Central Bank (ECB) and the Chairman of the European Systemic Risk Board, Stanley Fischer, the Governor of the Bank of Israel, Mustapha Kamel Nabli, the Governor of the Central Bank of Tunisia and Riad Toufic Salame, the Governor of the Central Bank of Lebanon.
A Cooperation Agreement will be concluded on the 13th of July between the Palestine Monetary Authority and the Central Bank of Morocco. Dr. Alwazir and the Governor Al-Jawaheri will sign a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance the cooperation between parties to share knowledge and exchange experience in line with best practice on matters of mutual interest in order to develop the banking and the financial sector in both the Kingdom of Morocco and Palestine.
