The PMA, Bank of Palestine, and Al-Quds University today signed the first agreement to implement the "Israr" program to finance university students’ tuition fees.
The agreement was signed by His Excellency the PMA Governor, Mr. Yahya Shunnar, the General Manager of Bank of Palestine, Mr. Mahmoud Al-Shawa, and the Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs at Al-Quds University, Prof. Dr. Hussein Jadou, in the presence of the Deputy Governor, Mr. Mohammed Manasrah, the Director of the Banking Supervision Department, Mr. Iyad Nasar, and several technical staff members.
The agreement aims to begin providing affordable financing for Al-Quds University students under the "Israr" program, through educational loans that will be repaid over 12 months with a grace period of up to two months. The PMA has allocated 25 million ILS to finance this program as part of the “Estidama” program.
The PMA Governor, Mr. Yahya Shunnar, emphasized that this agreement is part of ongoing efforts to provide financing to various sectors of society, particularly the education sector. He explained that the Israr program targets full-time students at local universities who do not receive full scholarships, enabling them to continue their studies without financial difficulties. In addition, the program aims to integrate this group into benefiting from banking services, thus promoting financial inclusion.
For his part, the General Manager of Bank of Palestine, Mr. Mahmoud Al-Shawa, clarified that the bank is always striving to support young people through financing programs. He emphasized that education is a fundamental pillar of development and that this agreement will provide the necessary financial support to help students achieve their academic and professional ambitions.
On his part, the Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs at Al-Quds University, Prof. Dr. Hussein Jadou, praised this initiative, commending the PMA and the banking sector for their attention to all segments of society, particularly the education sector. He affirmed that this initiative will make a significant difference for students who face difficulties in paying their tuition fees and will help Palestinian universities continue their educational journey and provide services to students.
